The Middle-Cut.

QT-013 : The Middle-Cut.

DISCLAIMER: This blog is a personal collection of diaries extracted from the author’s traces of life with pen, ink and paper. These are conversations between the soul, heart, mind, body and all existing particles, captured and embraced, in hoping to be eternalised towards the path of remembrance. As sincere as honest as could be, the author is imperfect in many ways, whereby all flaws of thoughts are natural in the time of writing. The Middle-Cut.

In khat, every bit of movement and step is philosophical. It reflects the nature of human behaviour and character in life. The stroke is the flow of each moment of life, which can be a point of failure, success, or a state of pause. It takes a number of strokes to form a complete letter structure. And the ambition of forming the perfect or ideal letter, is determined by the condition of each stroke.

Hidden within the strokes, you will find the middle-cut. The middle-cut is an invisible line that reflects the balance and harmony of the form, of each stroke. This middle-cut is not a centre line. It is a point or line of balance, to weigh and check the harmony of formation. It involves the position and initiation of a letter, and its orientation to project the following letters.

This middle-cut is the pivot of all decisions, actions and perfections. It is a perfect balance of perfections and imperfections. In life, every action needs a line of balance to justify one's intention. It is critical to understand that an intention is the mother of decisions. This is an important determinant to a destination called "fate". In calligraphy, you're determining the fate of your own letters, as much as how a person determines its own life.
