Tasbih, Dzikr Drills.
-—————
This is an Islamic artwork. It features a Tasbih: a meditational chant in glorification of God in Islam, commonly used in prayers and supplications. There are different forms of Tasbih, here it recites and means:
Subhanallah Wabihamdihi: Glory be to God (Allah) and All Praise is to Him.
Subhanallahil A’zhim: Glory be to God (Allah) The Mighty.
Dzikr: an Arabic term referring to remind, recall, remember, mention, as well as to invoke. It is an act of remembrance, as a form of prayers by chanting repeatedly in order to remember God (Allah). Dzikr is also seen as a way to gain spiritual enlightenment and achieve union in God.
Here, the Tasbih is executed many times in form of calligraphic drills. It displays the calligrapher’s training practise along with act of dzikr through repeated writing. It is calligraphed in Arabic Thuluth script, in movement of classical practise.
